"Your students are impeccably disciplined, you must be from an International school," was the comment from a table of European tourists at the Strawberry Park Hotel in the Cameron Highlands.  The 17 students who represented BSM received a many compliments about their behaviour and conduct as a school party.  Their excellent behaviour and very positive attitude to try anything, from eating durian fruit to putting a snake round their necks, made the trip an amazing experience.

The 9 day trip took us to Malaysia’s capital city; Kuala Lumpur.   We climbed 272 steps past cheeky monkeys to experience the amazing Hindu shrines at Batu Caves.  Later after a rain dance at the 452metre high Twin Towers, we went to the incredible new Aquarium and did a little shopping at KLCC.  The cool mountain Cameron Highlands were the next stop.  We saw how tea is made and got up close and personal with an array of scorpions and weird insects. The tropical colonial island of Penang was next on the trip, where the adventures continued and a snake actually fell out of a tree to provide the biggest scream ever!  After a short internal flight we were back in KL to buy some high quality goods in Chinatown.  For many students the highlight was the last day; a visit to the Elephant orphanage.  Here students fed and rode elephants before washing them and for some were even lifted on its trunk!

It was an amazing experience, which I hope can be repeated next year.

The staff leading the trip were: Mr. Jason Reeves, Mr. Nigel Witcomb and Mrs. Liz Macdonald.
