Our second annual 'Scratch Choir Day' was held on Thursday 28th April 2005. Once again the Junior Choir from PDO joined the Junior Choir from BSM to spend the whole day rehearsing songs from Oliver!, which they then performed to their parents and friends at 4pm that afternoon.

Miss Goodall from PDO was the Musical Director and she took the choir of fifty through each song, accompanied by Mr Megnin on the piano, while Mrs Kolster added a few dramatic touches to the songs and stage-managed the event.

The second session then saw them polishing up earlier work and learning some new songs, with small groups and individuals practising special lines. At lunchtime, dozens of pizzas arrived to fortify the singers, and then they had time to relax and watch excerpts from the original film of Oliver! while digesting their lunch.

A short afternoon session took place to complete the repertoire and give everyone places on stage. Finally, the choir was taken to the Sports Hall by a few mums (who deserve a big thank-you!) to play some games and have a rest before they donned their specially designed t-shirts and took to the stage at 4pm for the Performance! The children sang a selection of popular numbers from the musical, accompanied by Mr Megnin on piano and Mr Wright on percussion and conducted by Miss Goodall. Mrs Kolster read a narration, telling the story in between the songs.

Thanks are due to all those involved, both staff and parents for their help and support, and congratulations to the children who not only performed brilliantly but behaved impeccably throughout the day, being excellent ambassadors for their respective schools.
